Perhaps the title may sound familiar as being not other than the name of that fantasy kingdom serving as the main scene and a background for the plot of The Galleon (A gálya) as a small island empire. While planning some sequel to the game by the name of Horsekiller, I was in addition thinking about this funny little world to be much more opened and completed, and rather grown into a far bigger, more extensive, intricated, differentiated, mysterious waterland. Because there had already been a lot of other games from the preceding years that happened in an environment such alike (for example Pirates, or King’s Bounty, or Seven Cities of Gold etc.), and so as been among my favourite games, too, I was always longing to write some similar piece some day by myself.

No doubt finally that never became true, nevertheless I usually planned something similar for years, yet never was able to shape my thoughts into an explicit form… I should have liked to cram too many things into it (let it be an adventure, a role-playing, a strategy, an action game, and everything else at once), but somehow the conception was never cleared that how to do so, as a matter of fact, in real. When I should have started this at least, then it was a bit too late (around 1993-94), and unsure if ever been finished. Then finally this all question was cut away by that I began into other developments instead. I had made several less or more worked out picture plans, sketches, maps etc. but – unfortunately – the very most of them by now is lost. (I regret them very much, namely there were some detailed and nicely worked out pieces among them, moreover, some nearly artistic… It seems I didn’t take care about my floppy disks enough.) I have made a little selection of them.

As a matter of some extra curiosity, on the uppermost drawing, namely on the sea map zoomable by clicking onto twice, yonder certain relatively larger island lying at the left upper corner surrounded by few smaller islets is the scene for the plot of The Galleon. (There recognizable are the hills and mountains and the towns, the river and the southern port of gulf, so the lake in the middle, and so even the ghost castle by its western shore… Furthermore the southwest corner of the island that hadn’t occurred in the story yet – in that little area the plot could also have been extended with some unknown, new events and scenes.)
